You heard it right, someone is dialing the gate and a new Stargate TV show is coming through the wormhole.
And no, as fans will patiently explain, they’re not talking about the 1994 movie, they’re talking about the multiple shows that started in ’97 and ran for a surprisingly long time as I posted about back in 2022. But for fans, of course, there have been no new chapters for a depressingly long time.
So this quick announcement, with the showrunner and some of the producers should be welcome:
Not only is having folks who worked on the previous shows a good sign, as you heard in the video, this is not reboot, but a new chapter in the story. From my standpoint, this is great news, not only because of reboot fatigue, but because one of the strengths of the multiple series is even as they could be very episodic, there was an overall arc of the plucky humans trying to level up in the face of the various bad guys and their often vastly superior technology.
You can learn more about the people involved at the Gateworld article about the announcement, and that site as well as the YouTube channel Dial the Gate should scratch your itch for more info moving forward.
And yes, one of these days, I probably should do rankings or viewing guides of the Stargate series, but for now, let’s hope they have the right code to open the iris.
