When Your Character is a Level 51 Debut Novelist

Upon the recommendation of a host of various people, I am working my way through the Dungeon Crawler Carl series which, as many of you clearly know, has its share of bizarre character classes.

The author of the series, Matt Dinniman, appears to be around the same vintage as I from the last millennium, so seeing as we’re the smallest generation of living adults, it’s nice to see us unlock some achievements as it were.

I thought of that reading this article in The Guardian by Patrick Freyne, reflecting on his status as a new novelist later in life. I recall an interview with Ray Bradbury where he noted the ideas really started flowing at age 30 or so. It makes sense to me, but it’s still nice to see the output of feeding the muse can come at any age.
