A Great Show Needs a Great Theater

Speaking of all good things coming to an end as I was on Tuesday, tonight is a good thing I definitely don’t want to end: The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Tonight is its last night. In fact, they may have finished recording their final episode by the time you’re reading this.

And I was reminded by a fellow theatrical how important a theater space is. That it can be like a garden where people and ideas can grow. And I was going to share this video anyway, but re-watching it with that in mind, I think the people behind the renovation of the Ed Sullivan Theater had something of that metaphorical garden in mind:

So I’ll miss Colbert, but I’m sure he’ll do something in the future. And I’m hoping the band and crew land well. But I’m also hoping such a glorious space doesn’t go to waste. It makes a good garden.
